subway altercation in new york city. you'll hear from a man who saved his own life to save a man who fell on the subway tracks a few years ago. >>> police in new york announcing an arrest in a crime that's shocked this city and most of the country. naeem davis is facing murder charges. the arrest is doing little to quiet questions about why those in the station didn't try to do more or do anything to help lift him off the tracks. a freelance photographer on the scene shot this photo for "the new york post," that's the cover, showed the victim after it was too late to get out of the train's way. the photographer says he was trying to use the flash to alert the train's drivers while others ran for station worker. another photo from the new york post shows the man on tracks without the subway in sight perhaps giving bystanders a chance to help. in 2009 chad lindsey jumped onto the new york city subway tracks and rescued a man who passed out and fell onto the platform. he joins me now. thank you for being here. there's bin a lot of criticism of the photographer and other people on the pl

running for mayor of new york. are you still flirting with it? >> no. because to do so i mean i was convinced and people told me, although it was something i would love to have done, truly, you would have to take a year and a half of your life and do nothing but raise money and i'm doing the tv show and other commitments but i'm very interested in what the post bloomberg new york will look like. >> who would you like to see, of the names -- >> probably bill deblazio. >> why? >> i start by looking at the other candidates. all of whom have good qualities. the thing that concerns me most is obviously about quinn. i'm very outspoken about quinn who's a lovely person and bloomberg's hand picked successor. i resent that to some degree and that he needs to control the city hall and gracie mansion and overturned a voter-approved referendum with term limits for two terms. quinn killed the voter referendum at bloomberg's behest and gave him a third term. and i was very, very upset about that. and i just don't think that quinn is trustworthy. i think she's a very, very -- she's a nice person.

debate on guns in this country. i want to bring in fareed zakaria from new york. fareed, you look at what happens in this country, we've got shootings in churches, malls, movie theater, other schools, even the attempted murder of congresswoman gabby giffords, and now sandy hook. when people look at what happens in our country, what do they make of it? what do they think of us? >> well, for everyone around the world, this issue of the united states is utterly mystifying because we know what works. the united states has 15 to 20 times as much gun homicide and gun suicide, by the way, a lot of it is suicide, than any advanced country in the world. what's different? do we have 15 times as many mentally disturbed people? highly unlikely. do we have 15 times more violent tv or video games? no. japan has lots of violent video games, and they actually have astonishingly low gun violence. the big difference is that we have these incredibly loose gun laws that make access to the kind of weapons you just showed, suzanne, very easy. the idea that people -- that anyone other than law enforcement

from new york. we spent some time taking questions from viewers who want 20 know how the fiscal cliff will affect them. what will make the headlines? >> bottom line is this, that is if nothing is resolved right now, we are looking at a 20% increase across the board for tax revenue for washington. and you hear a lot about these spending cuts but realistically, we won't see a whole lot of spending cuts, because this way this was actually createded, we would only see spending cuts of .25%. >> one coming from edgar, he says i'm not confused about the fiscal cliff, what i'm confused about is what taxes will be raised? >> that's right. well the payroll tax holiday, it was created in 2010, it had a two-year tax extension, it expires on december 31st. this is a 2% payroll tax that all americans were enjoying. if nothing is resolved, your first paycheck in january is going to be 2% lighter. that may not sound like a lot. but you take a person who's makimake $50,000 per year, it's about 1,700 a year. >> i'm going to guess that even if we do leap off the cliff, we'll have some type of a re

a huge football fan that loved the new york giants. he loved them so much. i know he loved, loved the giants. that was a real area of passion for that little boy. it must have been heartbreaking to be there today. >> certainly because it just doesn't make sense. we're watching what's happening to this town and to see all of these people show up, this little boy's funeral, just a 6-year-old boy in the first grade and the people you normally see show up at a funeral, they're older. the people that came today, children, 5-year-olds, 6-year-olds, 7-year-old children and they arrived wearing long sleeved shirts and sweatshirts that had newtown wrestling on it and the family had had asked for privacy. we tried to give them as much privacy as possible and when you think about the global spotlight, they tried to have as much alone time as possible and certainly there is a lot of interest in this little boy who loved sports so much and one child who showed up to mourn today was actually wearing a medal and the medal is significant because i spoke to a member of a wrestling team in a nearby

in control of our energy future, now. >>> ali joins us from new york. there are dramatic changes as far as the estate tax is concerned if we go over the fiscal cliff, if no legislation is passed between now and the end of the year, walk us through what the folks out there can expect. >> here's how it works, wolf. if a family members dies and leaves their estate not to their spouse. but to their decendents, their children or someone other than their children. the estate tax kicks in. here's what's happening this year. according to the independent tax policy center. a state center worth less than $5 million are exempt. the center estimates about 3600 people, families, estates will fall into that category this year. 2012. next year barring any congressional action, that exemption falls down to a million dollars, the rate you pay on that estate jumps up to between 41% and 55%. on top of that, there's a 5% tax on the portion of very large tax estates. the tax policy tenners estimates the number will jump from 2600 in 2012 to 53,000 in 2013. that's a huge increase from where we stand righ

security contributor fran townsend is joining us via skype from new york to discuss this. fran, first of all, leon panetta, the defense secretary, said this. i want to read this and get your take on this. he says, "the intelligence that we have causes serious concerns that this is being considered." what does he mean by that? what do you think the intelligence he has in his hands to say such a thing? >> well, it sounds when you read the "new york times" report earlier this week put together with the nbc report, it appears that they're taking steps to certainly mix the precursor chemicals that would be required to load them into warheads and nbc went as far as to say that the sarin had been loaded into the weapons. either way it's, one, a serious step, and, second, something we've not seen before. you remember the earlier reports, suzanne, that the intelligence community believed there was some movement of the weapons. that was concerning enough. the notion that they've gone yet a step further that is to either prepare or, in fact, load the chemical weapons into the warheads is
